Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat held a meeting with the Chief Operating Officer of the European External Action Service Daid O'Sullevan while participating in the Asia Programming Consultation Seminar held in Brussels Thursday.
On the occasion, O'Sullevan showed concern on constitution writing and local body election in Nepal and in response, Dr. Mahat expressed commitment from the government.
He also met Director of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Francisco De Paula Coelho where EIB made commitment to provide additional Rs 1.5 billion for the Tanahu Hydel Project and Rs 12 billion for the Kaligandaki and Marsyangdi Corridor Transmission Line Projects and US$ 30 million for the upgrading of Trishuli Corridor transmission line.
In total Rs 16 billion will be received for hydel and transmission lines, the Finance Ministry said. Dr. Mahat also urged for additional assistance for water resource, irrigation and roads.
