Kathmandu unveils its budget for next year

The Kathmandu District Development Committee has made its policies, programmes and budget for the fiscal year 2071/ 072 public at a programme in the capital on Tuesday. The DDC has unveiled a budget of Rs 5.86 billion for the next fiscal year. The programmes and budget were passed by the seventh district council.
Speaking at the program, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, Prakash Man Singh has pointed out a need of integrated development plan, incorporating all three districts in the Kathmandu valley.
He further said the development necessities and demands of the people have not been addressed for lack of people's representatives for long. So, the present government has initiated homework to hold the election in local bodies, he added.
"I've directed all subordinate bodies from the Ministry to make homework for holding the election in local bodies," Minister Shrestha said, adding that the local bodies must be people-friendly. The people should be delivered smooth and prompt service, he stressed.
Minister for Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs, Narhari Acharya and CA member Gagan Thapa were also present at the program.
