OPMCM responds to SC writ

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has submitted a written response to the Supreme Court on Tuesday, arguing that the OPMCM could not be made defendant in a writ petition filed relating to the appointment of the 26 Constituent Assembly members.
Secretary at the OPMCM, Rajuman Singh Malla, sent the response to the SC, arguing that the Council of Ministers and OPMCM were separate bodies and the OPMCM was not authorized by the law to appoint the CA members. But, the Council of Ministers, body to take decision on the CA members' appointment, was not made defendants, he further said.
Two months ago, Chairman of the Dalit Janajati party and CA member Bishwendra Paswan had filed a writ petition at the SC, demanding the appointment of the non-political persons with special contribution to the nation and from the indigenous community among the 26 CA members to be nominated by the Council of Ministers.
