Registration of new crusher companies halted

The government has decided to take strict measures in order to stop mining of sands and stones that is putting the country’s natural resources at risk.
Speaking at the Legislative-Parliament’s meeting on Thursday, Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Mahesh Acharya informed that the government has decided to stop registration of new crusher companies until the end of this fiscal year.
Pointing out the indiscriminate extraction of sand and stones in the Chure range, Minister Acharya said that the government has also decided to shut down crushers operating within one kilometer of Chure region.
“We have to be aware of the sustainability of our consumption,” Minister Acharya said. “These decisions have been taken to for the conservation of our natural resources.”
Minister Acharya also added that the government will ban extraction and export of sand and stones from national parks and protected areas. He said that crusher factories will be closely inspected to ensure that they are not involved in illegal excavation.
