Addressing a conference of South Asian Federation of Accountants in the capital Friday, the Finance Minister stressed that there was no alternative before the government to reducing poverty by guaranteeing atmosphere of investment security.
On the occasion, the Butwal Power Company, Employees Provident Fund, Standard Chartered Bank bagged the ’Best Annual Report (Fiscal Year 2070-71 BS)’ award whereas Nabil Bank’s report received the second prize.
Similarly, the Finance Minister administered oath of office and secrecy to newly-elected office-bearers of Association of Chartered Accountants’ of Nepal.
Speaking at the programme, Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Dr Yubraj Khatiwada and Auditor General Bhanu Prasad Acharya sought effective role of auditors in promoting financial transparency, discipline and good governance.
Association new Chairman Narendra Bhattarai argued that financial transparency was vital for gaining economic development. Chartered accountants in Nepal are always ready to cooperate with the government to this end, he added.
Over 150 accountants from South Asian countries including Nepal are taking part in the two-day conference. RSS
