Modi is visiting Nepal at the formal invitation of Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and a meeting of the Council of Ministers to be held on Friday would finalize the agenda of Modi’s visit, Nepali Congress spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu told journalists after the party office-bearers’ meeting here this evening.
Friday’s cabinet meeting would make a formal announcement of Modi’s Nepal visit and Indian Prime Minister Modi will also be visiting either Janakpur or Lumbini, Badu said.
The meeting also discussed the country’s political situation, works carried out by the government in absence of the prime minister and Nepali Congress’s activities during the same period besides prime minister’s health condition.
Prime Minister Koirala had returned home from the USA after a month-long successful treatment of lung cancer.
Badu added that the NC leaders also discussed the Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s visit beginning Friday and about Nepal-India joint Commission Meeting to be held on Saturday.
Badu also said that interactions with the leaders of different political parties would be conducted on Friday to acquire suggestions from the politicians to make Modi’s visit a success and fruitful.
Meanwhile, Officiating Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shanker Das Bairagi has said only the date of the Indian PM’s Nepal visit has been fixed. Agenda of the visit and other programmes are yet to be finalized, he said. RSS
