Regular and timely information from the spokesperson to the journalists could help strengthen the relations between the two, he added. The Communications Minister however said that the ’spokesperson should not act like a journalist while the journalist should not work like a spokesperson. "No side should infringe the people’s right to information", he said. On the occasion, he also urged the spokesperson to give clear information and take the journalists into confidence while executing their important duty. Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications Suman Prasad Sharma said accountable government is inevitable for good governance and hence the spokespersons have an important role to play in this regard. Joint Secretary Kabiraj Khanal pointed out the need of effective publicity of the government’s policy, programmes and decisions.
