Speaking in the joint meeting of Nepali Congress central committee and the parliamentary party in Kathmandu, Minister for Irrigation Narayan Prakash Saud said that the government would increase the fund as permitted by economic capacity by becoming positive towards the demand.
The CA members had demanded that the amount allocated under the MPs' Development Fund be increased from the current Rs one million to five million.
According to Minister Saud, the CA members in the meeting called for increasing the amount with a view to allocating the budget in the 240 electoral constituencies in a balanced way and to make development effective through prioritization of the plans and programs.
The central committee members and lawmakers, for the last four days, have been holding discussion, making comments and providing recommendations on the policy and programs presented by the government. They have demanded that the budget should address the problems of their districts and constituencies.
At the meeting, the lawmakers stressed that the government programs and budget should be distributed in a balanced way rather than proximity to power so that people could feel a sense of development through the budget, Minister Saud said.
The meeting will be held on Friday, too, as leaders and lawmakers still have to deliver their views, said NC’s Chief Whip, Chinkaji Shrestha. The meeting is chaired by NC’s Acting President, Ram Chandra Paudel.
