Expressing concern over the news titled two hundred ministers properties: unnatural, incomplete and unreal details, Minister Dr Mahat has made it clear that his shares in various institutions, and the US dollars deposited in bank were natural as per his income.
At a press meet organized to make his stand clear on the news report on Tuesday, Minister Dr Rijal said, "To justify it, not of the entire income of my family in the last three years but some would be enough."
The net income after the sales of his and his wife, Durga Rijals shares at Apex College (excluding tax for bonus) was Rs 11.81 million, he said, adding that their son engineer Parjanya Rijal working in the US has the income of average 60,000 US dollars per year.
According to him, currently, there is the deposit of 47,000 US dollars at Nabil Bank which was first 1,383 dollars before a decade and was added to it frequently by his sister Geeta Dhital.
Moreover, the Minister said there was the share of Rs 1.2 million at Chaityannya Properties Pvt which was however not mentioned in the news published by the Nepal weekly.
"The news report could be more complete and balanced if the information was sought with me before publishing the news which may indirectly invite suspicions," said a press release issued by Minister Dr Rijal.
He argued that the details of his properties were published in a regular and transparent way through the property details that the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers releases.
Expressing commitment to the citizens right to information, Minister Dr Rijal requested all to make the journalism more credible and respectable. RSS
