The government is positive on increasing the fund of the MPs' Development Fund to Rs 50 million as demanded by the Constituent Assembly (CA) members, according to a minister on Thursday.
Speaking in the joint meeting of Nepali Congress central committee and the parliamentary party in Kathmandu, Minister for Irrigation Narayan Prakash Saud said that the government would increase the fund as permitted by economic capacity by becoming positive towards the demand.
The CA members had demanded that the amount allocated under the MPs' Development Fund be increased from the current Rs one million to five million.
According to Minister Saud, the CA members in the meeting called for increasing the amount with a view to allocating the budget in the 240 electoral constituencies in a balanced way and to make development effective through prioritization of the plans and programs.
