Baglung, July 9: The Baglung-Burtibang section of the Mid-hills Highway has been blocked at different points with the onset of the rainy season. Vehicles are finding it increasingly difficult to negotiate this section of the highway with swollen brooks flowing over the road. As a result, transport has been blocked at three different places of this 95-kilometre road section.

The direct transport service from Burtibang to the district headquarters Baglunghas been halted after the water level in the Daramkhola, Nwarakhola and the Bhimgithekhola streams rose. Buses and jeeps cannot operate on the road due to the swollen streams, according to Hom Bahadur Basnet, President of the Baglung Transport Entrepreneurs Committee. But the committee has been providing transport services to the passengers to get to their destinations even by arranging vehicles on the other side of the streams at different sections of the road, it is stated.
