The leaders were of the view that new people’s democratic revolution was completed after the People’s Movement-II and the political parties should make economic prosperity as their main agenda.
They also said that Nepal now no more is a semi-feudal and semi-colonial country due to reverse in its fundamental characters.
At an interaction programme on ’Capitalistic Transformation of Nepal’s Political Economy’ here Sunday, UCPN (Maoist) senior leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that political parties and politicians should focus on complete transformation of Nepali society though its character was changed.
Dr Bhattarai said that his party endorsed the political programme of capitalistic socialism revolution from the seventh general convention and other political parties were gradually joining the political line of the UCPN (Maoist).
Gradual commercialization of agriculture, increased investments in service sector, improvement in industrial environment and rise in remittances inflows have brought about changes in fundamental character of Nepali society, the former prime minister shared.
Also speaking at the programme, CPN (UML) Assistant General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal said that two parties-UML and UCPN (Maoist)-are not needed if the UCPN (Maoist) implements the political programme endorsed by the Hetauda Convention in letter and spirit.
"There is no need of two parties as their policies, programmes and even structures are noway different. Now they can go for party unification," Bhusal said.
Bhusal added that time for economic prosperity and revolution has started as the duration of political revolution was over. Likewise, Nepali Congress leader Chandra Kanta Bhandari said that maximum utilization of internal resources for economic prosperity was major responsibility of the hour.
Maximum efforts should be taken to ensure employment to youth working in the Gulf Nations, Bhandari opined. Similarly, analyst Shyam Shrestha expressed his opinion on shifted form of Nepali society and transition to capitalism. RSS
