He said this while inaugurating the Astha Samman-2071 and a variety cultural programme organised to mark the 15th anniversary of the Astha Kala Kendra, an organization devoted to the promotion of art and culture, here today.
The Minister said that the government was committed to protecting and promoting art, culture and literature of the country as they are an important part of our life and ethos.
On the occasion, Minister Acharya, on behalf the Astha Kala Kendra, honoured senior litterateur Chittaranjan Nepali with the Astha Samman 2071 for making an important contribution to the development of Nepali literature as well as history.
Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Arjun Bahadur Thapa, said that the SAARC Cultural Centre located in Sri Lanka was actively working for the promotion of the art and culture of the SAARC region.
Chairman of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) Kulchandra Wagle said art and culture fostered national sentiments and senior litterateur Nepali’s honour was indeed an honour to the entire Nepali literature.
Honoured personality Nepali lauded the Kendra for its contribution to the enhancement of Nepali art and literature. Kendra’s founder director Ramesh Thapa stressed that the state should give top priority for the development and promotion of art and culture. RSS
