Bhaktapur, July 7: The Nepal Relief Quota Teachers Central Struggle Committee staged a sit-in in front of the Department of Education, Sano Thimi in order to exert pressure on the authorities concerned for the fulfillment of it demands. No staff of the Department was allowed to enter office as the members of the Committee blocked entrance to the DOE since 9:00 am today. "We were forced to stage the sit-in as our peaceful struggle was not responded by the authorities", said Chair of the Committee Kowang Chulama.
The demands of the Committee include reforms in the provision related to relief teachers in the Education Act, costume allowance, dearness allowance and remote allowance among others. The sit-in shall continue until the demands are met, said Chulama.Meanwhile, daily work at the Department was halted as a result of the sit-in by the agitating relief quota teachers
