Rajbiraj, July 19: A man has been arrested here on the charge of murdering his teenage wife. Arjun Mandal, a resident of Malekpur in Saptari has been arrested on the charge of murdering his 19-year-old wife Punita Kumari Mandal. Mandal was arrested on Friday following a complaint filed by Punita’s father at the District Police Office. Mandal has been accused of murdering his wife for dowry. He reportedly tied up his wife and suffocated her to death.

However, Mandal has said that his wife committed suicide. Punita’s in-laws have also been taken into custody for necessary investigation, said DSP at the police office, Kedar Dhakal. Punita was married to Mandal just three months ago.
