Thapa came out first in the AFC Challenge Cup Football Championship held in Cambodia in 2008. He was in the national football team and also worked as a player in the Tribhuvan Army Club. Basnet, Chaudhari, Badawal and Thapa have been promoted from Warrant Officer level 2 to Warrant Officer level 1. Maharjan had come out first in the First Lumbini National Shooting Competition while Aryal had clinched the first position in the Third National Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in 2012. Both them have been offered promotions from the rank of Seargent to Warrant Officer level 2.
Addressing the function, Chief of the Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher Rana said that the Nepalese Army has been holding various national and international level sports competitions for the development and promotion of the sports sector.
