Kathmandu, July 2: Top leaders of the CPN-UMl have expressed confidence that the partys leadership would be selected on the basis of consensus and unity and the party would not lose its strength and integrity even if it sees election in nominating leadership.


However, the party leaders have witnessed vertical division and intensified election campaign based on their panel.

 CPN-UML Chairperson Jhalanath Khanal has already made his public statement that he was ready to take up the responsibility for next term for the sake of consensus while contenders Madhav Kumar Nepal and KP Sharma Oli have indicated to go back from the race.


At a press conference organized by the party here today, leader Oli said the general convention would be a milestone to bring about change not in the party in particular but also in the entire nation. He added the conclave would consolidate the party that could muster strength in course of framing a new constitution.

Ultimately, the main posts of the party would be nominated unopposed despite dissemination of wrong message, he further said.


Seconding his statement, Chairperson Khanal expressed hope that there is no alternative of consensus in choosing leadership. RSS
