Kathmandu, July 16: The entire vote counting of the CPN (UML) ninth national congress has been completed on Wednesday. The vote counting had begun on July 12. 

 
However, formal announcement of the results was not made till 9:30 pm citing technical reasons.

 
The formal closure of the national congress would be made at the party’s central office in Balkhu on Thursday.

 
Of the two panels, Nepal and Oli panels have won seven each in the 14-member office-bearers while outgoing party chair would be senior leader automatically as per the party statute.

 
According to the UML central election commission, Madhav Nepal, Rajendra Pandey, Pradip Nepal, Lalbabu Pandit, Kiran Gurung, Shanker Pokharel, Raghuji Panta, Bishnu Rimal, Parshuram Meghi Gurung and Beduram Bhusal have been elected the central member under the open category.

 
Madhav Nepal, who was defeated in the post of party chairman, has secured the highest votes in the central committee member while Gokarnaraj Bista followed leader Nepal.

 
Likewise, Tanka Karki, Thakur Gaire, Dr Bijay Poudel, Arun Nepal, Gangalal Tuladhar, Tul Bahadur Gurung, Nagendra Chaudhary, Som Prasad Pandey, Rabindra Adhikari, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Ramnath Dhakal, Surya Thapa, Agni Kahrel, Kashinath Adhikari, Brinda Pandey, Mahendra Pandey, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Mukunda Neupane, Damodar Bhandari and Dr Rajan Bhattarai were also elected under the open category.

 
Some important leaders who lost the election are Dharmanath Prasad Saha, Raghubir Mahaseth, Khagaraj Adhikari, Purusthottam Poudel, Karna Thapa, Rameshwor Phuyal, Devraj Bhar, Urba Datta Pant, Narayan Dhakal, Tuka Hamal, Mahesh Basnet and others.
