Oli garnered 1002 votes against his contender party senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal’s 966 votes. Bhim Bahadur Rawal, Bamdev Gautam, Bidya Devi Bhandari, Yub Raj Gyawali and Ashta Laxmi Shakya have been elected the party vice-chairperson. Rawal bagged 1,330 votes, Gautam 1075, Bhandari 1057, Gyawali 1026 and Shakya 1006 votes.
Vice chairman candidates Pradip Nepal, Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Lalbabu Pandit, Kiran Gurung and Dharmanath Prasad Sah, however, lost the election.
Similarly, Ishwor Pokhrel became General Secretary defeating Surendra Pande with 1,051 votes to 1023.
Ghanashyam Bhushal and Bishnu Poudel have been elected deputy general secretaries getting,1041 and 1,045 votes respectively. They defeated Shanker Pokhrel and Raghuji.
Similarly, Gokarna Bista (with 1,206 votes), Pradeep Gywali (1,106 votes) Yogesh Bhattarai (1,028 votes), Prithvi Subba Gurung (996 votes) and Bhim Prasad Acharya (887 votes) have been elected party secretaries, according to UML Publicity Department Chief Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.
Bishnu Rimal, Raghubir Mahaseth, Parashuram Meghi Gurung, Beduram Bhusal and Keshablal Shrestha who were also in the race for party new secretaries have lost the battle.
However, a formal announcement of the election results will be made by the party election commission. Vote counting for central members is going on, it is learnt. RSS
